Principal-Sparta Elementary School

Alleghany County Schools is seeking a PK-8 Principal for Sparta Elementary School. The principal is expected to lead the delivery of educational programs, operations, personnel, and financial resources within the building to ensure that District polices are followed, district and state standards are achieved, and that the educational needs of all students are met.

Alleghany County Schools is seeking candidates with the capacity to:

· Foster high student achievement and provide learning experiences which help all students meet or exceed the North Carolina standards.
· Develop a safe and welcoming learning environment where all individuals are respected
· Collaborate with building and district personnel to implement curriculum and instructional programs that support learning opportunities for all students
· Coordinate the involvement of various building stakeholders—staff, parents/guardians, students—in the development and implementation of polices that enhance opportunities for students
· Empower teachers to facilitate professional learning communities

Qualifications Include:

· Valid North Carolina K-12 Principal or Elementary license required
· Elementary and/or middle school administrative and teaching experience preferred
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills
· Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community
· Successful experience in facilitating educational change
· Experience in developing and implementing site-based decision-making
· Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)

Middle Grades ELA or K-6 Position at Glade Creek School

Middle grades ELA or K-6 certified with experience teaching ELA and Reading and interest in adding middle grades ELA to license; also preference for ESL, AIG or other specialty certifications. Preference given to candidate willing to coach or lead clubs

School Psychologist

Job Description: Psychologist assesses the learning and development of students. The psychologist will conduct assessments and interpret results to parents of students referred to the Exceptional Children’s Program and assist in using this data to sesign instructional interventions as appropriate. The psychologist will provide consultation to teachers and parents as well as direct services to students.

Salary: State Salary Schedule – 10 month postion

Minimum Qualifications: In North Carolina, in order to work in the schools as a school psychologist, one must have an advanced degree (e.g.,M.A.,Ed.S., or Ph.D.) in the field of school psychology specifically. Candidate must be HQ or willing to meet all requirements to become HQ.

Starting Date: 2014-2015 School Year

Secondary English Teacher

9-12 certification preferred but 6-9 certification considered if willing to obtain 9-12 certification. Preference given to candidate with willingness to coach or lead clubs.
